PRESS RELEASE - SHENANIGANS Irish Music Festival announced!!!
Are you a fan of Irish Music, finding yourself wishing that there were more of your favourite Irish bands performing here Down Under?
ShamRock ‘N’ Roll brings together the best Irish bands to their fans here in Australia, promoting popular and upcoming Irish
acts, bringing them to Australia for a night of Shenanigan’s, the Irish way...!
It is with excitement that Shamrock N’ Roll introduce SHENANIGANS, a true Irish Music Festival, touring Australia this March. Headlining
Shenanigans is The Wolfe Tones, Ireland’s number one folk band !!
Yes you heard right.. The Wolfe Tones are returning! After declaring that their Jan 10 tour of Australia would be their last, the guys loved their tour
and our fine country so much they insisted on coming back for St Patrick Day celebrations in 2011!
The Wolfe Tones have sold more records and had more number ones in their native Ireland than U2. Their hit, A Nation Once Again, is voted
the number one song in the world courtesy of a BBC World Service poll. For over 40 years The Wolfe Tones have enjoyed unprecedented success.
The band's performances are legendary. They've been awarded the key to the city in Los Angeles, New York, Kansas and Philadelphia and have
had a flag flown over the Capitol Building in Washington DC in their honour.
Supporting The Wolfe Tones is fellow Irishman Mundy, born Edmund Enright in the rural Irish town of Birr. Mundy’s journey into music has been
one of solid graft. Aged 18, he moved to Dublin and started to busk on the notorious Grafton Street and at open-mic nights at nearby bars.
Two years later Epic Records, a subsidiary of Sony, saw his potential and signed him to the label whereby he released To You I Bestow, his debut
single on New Years Day 1996.
Such was the success of his introduction it was licensed to appear on Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet. Enright
has released five albums: Jellylegs, 24 Star Hotel, Raining Down Arrows, Live and Confusion and his latest, the inspiring and buoyant Strawberry Blood.
In recent times, Mundy enjoyed huge success with his hit “Galway Girl”. He has also featured in the film, “P.S. I Love You”.
Local support for Shenanigans Irish Music Festival comes from Celtic Fire, Celtic Fire is the breathtaking new musical show which combines the
ethereal voice of Angela Little (singer and composer from Baz Luhrmann’s film “Australia”, also known as Ophelia of the Spirits) with the energy and
excitement of Irish dancing, primal tribal rhythms, sweeping cinematic sounds, and stunning visual projections.
Taking inspiration from the mythology
of the ancient tribe of the Tuatha de Dannan, AFI award-nominated composer Angela has drawn on a wealth of tribal roots from many ancient cultures
including Japanese Taiko drumming and middle Eastern rhythms and sounds to create a never-before-seen cross-cultural multimedia experience.
The previous ShamRock N Roll Wolfe Tones tour sold out across the country, so early ticket purchase is encouraged in order to ensure your spot at an
Irish Music extravaganza not to be missed. 3 Amazing acts for one night only!
Tickets are available from 17 January via Ticketek (Sydney, Brisbane, Perth) and Ticketmaster (Melbourne)
